(DALLAS) -- Police officers killed an unarmed man Sunday after an hour-long standoff with a suspect who authorities say claimed to have been in possession of a gun.
In a written statement, police spokesman Lt. C.L. Williams said authorities found the man around 6 a.m. and opened fire at approximately 7:15 a.m.
Williams said the suspect “made gestures that the officers deemed threatening, and five officers fired on him."
Both the suspect and the person who called 911 claimed the man was armed, but police said a search of the man turned up no firearm.
The suspect's identity was not immediately released.
