Tropical Storm Karen Weakening, Continuing Towards Gulf Coast

iStock/Thinkstock(NEW ORLEANS) -- Tropical Storm Karen is weakening as it approaches the Gulf Coast. But, it could bring some flooding with it.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Karen is barely still a Tropical Storm. Its maximum sustained wind is about 40 miles per hour.

ABC Meteorologist Ginger Zee in Louisiana said, "It's not going to be too terrible of a storm, especially because it's taking its sweet time... I think the major issue -- if there is going to be one -- would be rain."

As of 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Karen was 172 miles southwest of New Orleans.

According to Zee, Karen will be downgraded to a Tropical Depression by the time it hits Louisiana.
