Utility Says Power to Be Restored to Washington Residents Sunday

Monkey Business/Thinkstock Photos(TACOMA, Wash.) -- Many of the more than 30,000 customers who were without power in Washington State on Saturday night have had their electricity restored by Sunday afternoon, Puget Sound Energy said on their Twitter account.

Just after 9 a.m. PT Sunday, the utility company said that there were fewer than 9,000 customers still without power and that with crews in the "final stages of time-consuming work," those customers would have their power back by the end of Sunday.

"All repairs and restoration work will be completed for the last group of customers today," Puget Sound Energy said on Twitter.

High wind gusts blew tree limbs onto power lines Saturday night, in some cases knocking out power to homes that had had their power restored hours earlier. All the while, thousands of residents of Washington state were unable to watch their Seattle Seahawks face the New Orleans Saints in a National Football League playoff game.
