WATCH: Secret Service Rescue Caught on Camera

iStock/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) -- A 59-year-old woman who collapsed in front of the White House after going into full cardiac arrest had some guardian angels watching over her — in the form of two quick-thinking Secret Service officers.

A patrolling Secret Service Uniformed Division officer was the first to respond to the incident at about 1 p.m. Thursday and immediately discovered the woman had no pulse, authorities said.

“He assessed the situation, she was unconscious and unresponsive, and so he radioed in another uniformed division officer,” Secret Service spokesman George Ogilvie told ABC News on Friday.

“She was not breathing and was turning blue,” Ogilvie said, noting the second officer was a trained EMT.

During the 16-minute episode, caught on camera, the Secret Service officers quickly administer CPR and retrieve an automated external defibrillator device from their vehicle to resuscitate the woman, who had collapsed at  17th St. NW and Pennsylvania Avenue.

“They actually delivered a shock, and continued with compression until DC Fire [Department] responded,” Ogilvie said of Officer William Grimmer, who first saw the woman collapse, and Officer Thomas Hammond, the trained EMT.

The woman, who was not identified, was then transported to George Washington Hospital, where she is now recovering, authorities said.
