(HARTFORD, Conn.) -- A jury in Hartford has found a 40-year-old Massachusetts man guilty on a pair of child sex crime charges, according to the United States Department of Justice.
Eugene C. Boisvert of Springfield, Mass. was convicted Wednesday of one count of using the Internet to attempt to persuade a minor to engage in sexual activity, and one count of interstate travel to attempt to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor.
According to court documents, Boisvert engaged in close to 40 conversations online with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl between June 26 and Aug. 6, 2010. The person he believed he was conversing with turned out to be an officer from Milford, Conn. working with a special computer crimes task force. The evidence, according to officials, showed that Boisvert knew it would be illegal for him to engage in such activity with a minor.
Authorities arrested Boisvert Aug. 6 when he traveled across state lines to Connecticut to meet with who he thought was the girl. He faces up to 40 years in prison for Internet enticement and up to 30 years on the interstate travel count.
