Dog Rescued from North Smithfield Fire; Firefighter Injured

(NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I.) -- A fire destroyed a home in North Smithfield on Wednesday evening.

The blaze reportedly started sometime after 6 p.m. at a home located on Pine Lane. Fire crews battled the flames, while also rescuing a dog who got trapped in the burning structure.

One firefightrer had to be taken to an area hospital for treatment to unknown injuries.
