Gang Detective Stabbed in Chest, Suspect Shot

(NEW BEDFORD, Mass.) -- A New Bedford gang detective was stabbed in the chest by a gang member Thursday night, ABC affiliate WLNE reports.

The detective had approached a group of people on Cedar Street and a confrontation ensued. After he was stabbed in the chest, he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

The suspect was shot by two other gang detectives and transported to St. Luke's Hospital. There is no status on the condition of either party.
