New Bedford Man Sentenced to 8-to-10 Years for Shooting

(FALL RIVER, Mass.) -- A New Bedford man was sentenced to 8-to-10 years in prison for shooting another man in the back two years ago, according to SouthCoastToday.com.

Jared DeBarros, 19, pleaded guilty to charges of armed assault with intent to commit murder, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a firearm.  He will be under three years of probation upon his release and is not allowed to have contact with the victim, Christopher Serra.

DeBarros shot Serra in the back in June 2010 following an argument.
