Rhode Island's Unemployment Rate Creeps Upward
(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) -- The unemployment situation in Rhode Island worsened between March and April, according to information released Friday by the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training.
In April the state's unemployment rate rose to 11.2 percent from the March rate of 11.1 percent. Officials say the number of unemployed workers in the state went from 62,100 in March to 62,200 in April.
The national unemployment rate for April was 8.1 percent, down from 8.2 percent the previous month.
