Two Firefighters Injured While Battling Pawtucket Blaze

(PAWTUCKET, R.I.) -- Two firefighters were injured Monday night while battling a blaze in Pawtucket.

The two-alarm fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. at Perlow Auto Sales located on Pawtucket Avenue. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find flames and thick smoke shooting from a structure on the compound.

One firefighter was hospitalized after being exposed to smoke and cyanide, according to published reports, while another firefighter was taken to an area hospital for treatment to an elbow injury.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
