Update: Speed a Factor in Fatal Providence Crash

(PROVIDENCE, R.I.) -- Authorities determined that speed was a factor in a fatal car crash in Providence that killed one and hospitalized two others, ABC News New Bedford affiliate WLNE-TV reports.

The crash reportedly occurred just before 7 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Orms Street. Police say three men were traveling in an SUV when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a nearby structure. All three occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene while the other two victims were taken to area hospitals in unknown conditions.

The vehicle was traveling "well over the speed limit,” Providence police said.
