State Police Investigating Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting

(HARTFORD, Conn.) -- An investigation is underway into a fatal police-involved shooting in Hartford on Wednesday night.

The shooting happened on Heath Street in the vicinity of Park Street. Police officials said in published reports that an officer shot a suspect in a stabbing, and the suspect was then taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The stabbing victim was also hospitalized in unknown condition.

The shooting is being investigated by Connecticut State Police.

City Pays $50K to Settle Police Misconduct Lawsuit

(NEW LONDON, Conn.) -- The city of New London has agreed to a $50,000 settlement of a police misconduct lawsuit, The Day reports.

Daniel J. Golodner signed an agreement dated April 25 to drop his federal lawsuit alleging New London Police officers had violated his rights when the arrested him in 2009.

Golodner, who has had several run-ins with the New London Police, claims the six officers who arrested him in 2009 chilled his right to free speech, illegally followed him to his car after leaving a Jefferson Avenue CVS, and used excessive force to arrest him.

The settlement will be paid through the city's insurance carrier, XL/Indian Harbor Insurance Co.

Police Search for Two Suspects in New Haven Home Invasion

(NEW HAVEN, Conn.) -- Police are investigating a home invasion in New Haven on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at a home on Osborn Street, as police say two masked suspects entered the home and proceeded to tie up two occupants at gunpoint, before stealing a number of items from the residence, published reports stated.

The suspects then fled in a vehicle belonging to the victims. The stolen vehicle is a gray Dodge Intrepid with Connecticut license plate 736 YHB.

New Haven Man Pleads Guilty to Role in Killingworth Bank Robbery

(NEW HAVEN, Conn.) -- A New Haven man has pled guilty to being part of a bank heist in Killingworth last year, in which over $43,000 was stolen.

Marcus Dwyer, 40, pled guilty on Tuesday to one count of bank robbery in connection with the incenident at a TD Bank branch on Route 81 on August 6, 2012.

Authorities say two suspects entered the bank and stole money from a vault, while also robbing cutomers of their belongings, before fleeing the scene.

Two other people, Dario Pabey and Jennifer Jacques, have also pleaded guilty to being involved in the robbery. All three are awaiting sentencing.

Police Catch Auto Parts Garage Burglar in the Act

(NEW LONDON, Conn.) -- New London police officers arrested a man caught breaking into the garage of an auto parts store on Friday, the department announced Tuesday.

Officers were conducting a building check of Car Quest Auto Parts on Broad Street at 3:30 a.m. after noticing that one of the windows had been broken. While investigating, officers realized that the suspect might still be inside of the building.

A K-9 unit was brought to the scene, and police searched the inside of the building and apprehended the suspect, 31-year-old Angel Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was charged with burglary in the third degree, possession of burglary tools, larceny in the sixth degree, and criminal mischief in the third degree.
