Dead Body Found in Rocky Hill

(ROCKY HILL, Conn.) -- Police are investigating the death of a person whose body was found in a shallow grave in Rocky Hill on Monday.

Officials say the body was discovered Monday morning near a sand pit area located off of Old Forge Road, according to published reports. A passerby reportedly came upon the body and notified authorities.

Officials did not immediately release information about the identity or gender of the person whose body was found.

School Bus Vandalism Delays Classes in New Milford

(NEW MILFORD, Conn.) -- School buses in New Milford were found vandalized Monday morning, causing a delay for area schools.

The vandalized buses were found at the bus yard on Dodd Road. Classes were delayed two hours in New Milford.

The extent of the damage remains unclear. An investigation by police is underway.

Man Struck By Lightning

(MONTEVILLE, Conn.) -- On Wednesday, an Afghanistan war vet was struck by lightning and lived to tell the story.

Jon Naholnik, was opening his car door outside the house on Fellows Road, when he was struck and fell to the ground unconscious. His family went to his aide. He regained consciousness and was rushed to the William W. Backus Hospital.

Naholnik has burn marks on his hand and foot where the lightning entered and exited. He said he felt like he was hit by a sledgehammer.

Police Searching for Reported Deep River Plane Crash

(DEEP RIVER, Conn.) -- Connecticut State Police are investigating a plane crash reported in Deep River, Conn. around 3 p.m.

No plane, pilot, or passengers have been found as of yet.

Mountain Lion Sighted in Greenwich

(GREENWICH, Conn.) -- Connecticut officials say a mountain lion "at least two to three times bigger than a dog" has been spotted in Greenwich.

Officials say the cat may have escaped or been released by a local handler.

The state is teaming up with the New York Department of Environmental Conservation to locate and trap the animal.
