Police Looking for Suspect Accused of Robbing Woman for $60,000

(HARTFORD, Conn.) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a woman was robbed for $60,000 outside a Bank of America on Burnside Avenue around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the woman and her mother were about to enter the bank to make a deposit when the suspect allegedly wrestled the money away from her, sending the victim to the ground.

The two women said they were making the deposit on behalf of their family-owned business, Star Supermarket.

Police describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic male in his early 20s, standing five-foot-six to five-foot-nine with a thin build and brown hair in a pony tail. He was last seen wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and running west on Chapel Street.

Woman Dies After Being Struck by Car

(BLOOMFIELD, Conn.) -- A woman was struck and killed by a car on Blue Hills Avenue on Tuesday.

Officials say a car stopped for the woman, who was walking in a pedestrian crosswalk. Another car drove around the stopped car and struck the woman. Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the accident.

Police have not released the names of any of the people involved in the incident.

More 'Bad Gasoline' Found in CT

(NEW LONDON, Conn.) -- More "bad" gasoline has been found in Connecticut, adding sixteen gas stations to the list of stations getting complaints from customers about the fuel causing damage to their cars.

The stations are located in eastern Connecticut, specifically in New London and Windham counties.

State officials say they won't release the names of the gas stations, explaining the issue has already been identified and alleviated. The state says 150 stations were connected with "bad" gas after receiving fill-ups from a suspect tank.

Former School Employee Sentenced to 15 Years for Child Sex Crimes

(HARTFORD, Conn.) -- A former Plainville school employee was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday, according to the Hartford Courant.

Jonathan Michael Zahra, 27, who was a computer technician for the Plainville school system, admitted to a U.S. District Court that he sexually abused an 11-year-old boy, including taking sexually explicit pictures of the victim in his home.

Zahra was also given a 12-year concurrent sentence after pleading guilty to state charges of first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He must also serve 10 years of federal probation following his release from prison as well as register for life as a sex offender.

Man Shot Heroin with Infant Daughter in Car

(WEST HARTFORD, Conn.) -- A man was arrested after police found him shooting heroin while his 1-year-old daughter was in the car.

Officials say Joshua Knowlton Turney, 26, was discovered by police who were looking for him after he and his daughter were reported missing.  Police say they found Turney in the parking lot shooting heroin and they also found 130 used bags of heroin in the car.

The child was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for treatment. Turney was charged with risk of injury to a minor and illegal possession among other charges. He is being held in police custody on a $50,000 bond.
