Meteorite Drops on Waterbury Home

(WATERBURY, Conn.) -- A meteorite fell on a Waterbury home on Wednesday.

Officials from the Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History said in published reports, that the meteorite was discovered on the lawn of the home. Officials say it weighs about 1.6 pounds and has a size and shape similar to an avocado.

There were no reports of injury.

Child, 11, Injured in Hit-and-Run in Bridgeport

(BRIDGEPORT, Conn.) -- An 11-year-old child is recovering after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision on Thursday morning.

The incident happend in the area of Maplewood and Howard avenues. Police said in published reports that the child was attempting to cross the street when he was hit. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

The child was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, reports stated.

Man Suing New London Police for Use of Excessive Force

(NEW LONDON, Conn.) -- A man is suing the city of New London, four police officers and two city employees after an incident outside the Southeastern Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence detoxification center in 2011.

According to The Day, Reuben Miller is suing for violations of his civil and constitutional rights, as well as use of excessive force.

According to the complaint, Miller, who was intoxicated, was brought to the ground by a police officer who did not identify himself at the time, says The Day. Another officer allegedly slammed Miller's face into the pavement and punched him repeatedly. At least one social worker is accused of holding Miller down while he was beaten and pepper sprayed.

At the time, Miller was charged with interfering with an officer and second-degree breach of peace.

Woman Killed in Suffield Fire

(SUFFIELD, Conn.) -- A woman was killed in a fire in Suffield on Wednesday night.

The blaze was reported around 7 p.m. at a home located on the 1400 block of Mapleton Avenue. Authorities said in published reports that  three people were in the home at the time, but only two managed to make it out of the burning structure.

The remaining woman's body was found among the burned remains of the house.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Woman, 92, Attacked in Enfield Home Invasion

(ENFIELD, Conn.) -- Police are searching for a suspect who attacked a senior citizen during a home invasion in Enfield on Monday.

The incident happened on Monday afternoon, according to published reports, as police say a man showed up at the door to a 92-year-old woman's home, under the guise that he was there to deliver a package. The suspect reportedly then forced his way into the home and then stole a television and other items from the home.

Police are still investigating the incident.
