Amber Alert Cancelled After Missing Child, Father Found Safe

(NEWWINGTON, Conn.) -- An Amber Alert issued for a missing five-month-old girl early Friday morning, has been cancelled after the child was found safe with her father.

Authorities said on Thursday afternoon the child's mother last saw the infant and her father at a Department of Social Services office in Newington. However when the man failed to return to pick up the mother, the woman became worried and made a report, published reports stated.

State Police then issued an Amber Alert around midnight.

The Hartford Courant reports that the man found out about the Amber Alert that was issued and called police, telling them it was all a misunderstanding.
