Bear Attacks Dog in West Hartford

(WEST HARTFORD, Conn.) -- Authorities are investigating an incident in West Hartford on Monday morning in which a bear reportedly attacked a dog.

The incident reportedly happened around 6:40 a.m. as a man was walking his dog along a path in a wooded area near the Metropolitan District Commission reservoir. The attack was reportedly prompted by the dog's owner, who tried to fire a weapon at the bear, however, it was not immediately known if the bear was hit.

The dog was taken to a veterinary clinic in Avon for treatment to injuries sustained.
