Fairfield University Student Burned in Vehicle Fire

(FAIRFIELD, Conn.) -- A Fairfield University student remains hospitalized with severe burns sustained in a vehicle fire on Thursday evening.

The car was found on fire on Melville Avenue, according to authorities, around 6:30 p.m. The vehicle somehow caught fire and the student's body became engulfed in flames, published reports stated, with the victim then running to a nearby park where a baseball game was in progress, for assistance.

Officials said people at the park help put out the flames on the student's body, and called authorities.

The victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he's listed as in critical condition, according to reports.
