Man Sentenced to 35 Years for Chew Murder

(NEW LONDON, Conn.) -- A man was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Wednesday for the murder of Matthew Chew, ABC affiliate WTNH reports.

Idris Elahi was convicted of stabbing Chew to death as he walked from his job on Huntington Street to his apartment on Washington Street on October 29, 2010. Elahi was one of several people arrested for the murder.

Elahi did not speak, but his mother said she sends thoughts and prayers to the Chew family, and that she loves her son.
