Waterbury Fire Leaves One Dead

(WATERBURY, Conn.) -- One person is dead and at least five other people are displaced following a fire in Waterbury on Thursday morning.

The fire was reported around 2 a.m., with fire crews being dispatched to a home located on Griggs Street. Firefighters worked to put out the blaze, and in the process pulled a man from the second floor of the structure. Officials said the man was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.

The American Red Cross is reportedly working to assist those affected by the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
