Gillibrand Files Amendment to Stabilize Price of Milk

(WASHINGTON) -- Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) is pushing to have the price of milk stabilized across the country.

Gillibrand and Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine) have filed an amendment to the 2012 Farm Bill, which they said would provide certainty for the nation’s dairy farmers by stabilizing milk pricing.

The amendment seeks to allow dairy industry groups to present milk pricing reforms to U.S. Department of Agriculture for consideration in a public hearing setting and eliminate the end product price formula to set prices for class III milk.
