New York Officially Allows Same-Sex Conjugal Visits in Prisons
(ALBANY, N.Y.) -- New York state prisons now officially permit same-sex conjugal visits for inmates.
Same-sex visitation has been legal since 2008 for inmates in a civil union or same-sex marriage, but the rule has only just been added to the state register.
Since gay marriage is still illegal in New York, gay inmates would have to have been married out of state. Gov. Cuomo, however, has expressed his administration's intent to legalize gay marriage.
