NYSTA Pushes for 45 Percent Toll Hike for Three-Axle Vehicles

(ALBANY, N.Y.) -- The New York State Thruway Authority announced Wednesday that it is pushing for a 45 percent toll hike for commercial vehicles with more than three axles, according to published reports.

The money generated from the toll hike will reportedly go toward maintenance in the NYSTA system and not toward the upcoming replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

The typical toll for a three-axle truck driving from Buffalo to New York City is about $88 and could increase to $127 if the new hikes get approved.

The change could be implemented as early as Sept. 30.
