State Wants to Use Savings to Boost Health Care

(ALBANY, N.Y.) -- New York State is hoping to be able to use money saved as a result of Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) reforms, to help transform the state's health care system.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that the state has applied for a federal government waiver that would allow New York State to invest up to $10 billion, saved by MRT reforms, to implement a plan to improve health scare statewide.

"This waiver amendment will allow New York State to fully implement the groundbreaking MRT action plan to permanently restructure our health care system and continue to make New York a national model," Cuomo said in a statement.
