Two New York-Based Soldiers Killed in Afghanistan

(WASHINGTON) -- Two New York-based soldiers have been killed while serving in Afghanistan, military officials said Monday.

In a news news release, the Department of Defense said Sgt. 1st Class Bobby L. Estle, 38, of Lebanon, Ohio, and Pfc. Jose Oscar Belmontes, 28, of La Verne, Calif., were both fatally injured when they were hit by enemy small arms fire on Saturday in Wardak province, Afghanistan.

The two were assigned to the 630th Engineer Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, 10th Sustainment Brigade, Fort Drum, N.Y.
