Updated 511NY System Unveiled

(ALBANY, N.Y.) -- State officials have announced that New York's 511NY service has been upgraded and is now better equipped to keep commuters informed about traffic situations on state roadways.

In an announcement by Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday, it was disclosed that 511NY has a revamped website, new mobile apps, along with improved social media connections through websites such as Twitter and Facebook. The governor said the updated 511NY service would come in handy during the busy summer travel period, especially with a number of NY Works road and bridge projects being undertaken statewide.

"With summer just beginning, it is important that drivers stay updated on these projects so they know of any traffic tie ups or backups before they get on the road," Cuomo said in a statement.
