GOP Address: NC Gov. Pat McCrory on Efficiency and Job Creation Initatives

Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- In this week's Republican address, North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory contrasts the methods for resolving job creation issues in Washington with the methods of Republican governors, who he claims are more efficiently leading to improve their states' economies.

"Like you, when I look to Washington, I see entrenched gridlock and an immediate need for executive leadership. Fortunately, Washington bears no resemblance to states where strong Republican governors are using their leadership skills to improve the daily lives of their citizens," he says in the address.

When asked how to start new initiatives for job creation without raising taxes, Gov. McCrory says he often replies, "The answer is efficiency."

"Today’s smartphones are much more efficient and cost effective than earlier models of mobile phones. There is no reason why government can’t be as customer friendly and cost effective as a smartphone," McCrory explains, adding, "Ultimately, interacting with government should be as easy as checking the latest scores on the internet or even shopping online."

But without the federal government to step in and grant more independence and flexibility to the state, the governor says, "there are only so many innovates that states can create on their own," particularly in health care and energy.

“Medicaid reform and energy are just two issues where Republican governors are exerting visionary leadership. I urge the President to join us in North Carolina where we’re working to make government a partner—not an adversary to progress," he says.
