Newt Gingrich Returns to the Campaign Trail in New Hampshire

Jessica McGowan/Getty Images(HUDSON, N.H.) -- Newt Gingrich is officially back from vacation and made his first campaign stop in Hudson, NH Wednesday after a nearly two-week break from the campaign trail.
At an event at C&M Machine Products Inc., Gingrich signed the “Strong America Now” deficit reduction pledge, which vows to eliminate the deficit without adding new taxes.
“Americans are not overtaxed, they’re overspent,” Gingrich said in a statement. “Raising taxes will only further hurt economic growth and will ultimately cause bigger budget deficits.  The most important step to balancing the budget is growing the economy and creating jobs. You can’t balance the budget with nine percent unemployment.  My Jobs and Prosperity Plan uses the same proven policies straight from the Reagan playbook we used when I was speaker to balance the budget, reform government, and enable the creation of over eight million new jobs.”
Gingrich and his wife, Callista, will screen their documentary, Nine Days that Changed the World, followed by a book signing at a high school in Plaistow, NH Tuesday evening.
Gingrich was last seen on the campaign trail on May 27 delivering a speech in Columbia, S.C.  Following the speech, he took some previously scheduled “time off,” missing a social conservative conference attended by every other presidential candidate.
Last week, Gingrich and his wife were spotted on a weeklong Mediterranean cruise on the Seabourn Odyssey.
Gingrich’s next public appearance is slated for Sunday evening when he delivers a major foreign policy speech at the Republican Jewish Coalitions’ Summer Bash in Beverly Hills, California.
