Obama and Romney Aren't Like Most, Survey Suggests
Emmanuel Dunand/AFP/Alex Wong/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- What do you have in common with President Obama and GOP nominee Mitt Romney?
If the answer is little or nothing at all, you're part of a big majority in the latest Esquire/Yahoo! News poll.
Seventy-four percent of respondents said they had little or nothing in common with Romney. The incumbent didn't fare much better, with 60 percent giving the same response.
However, in a more telling part of the survey, Obama seems to have the upper hand with middle-class and poor voters. Forty-eight percent and 57 percent of middle-class and poor voters, respectively, said that they'd be better off under Obama, compared to 38 percent and 30 percent for Romney.
The Republican did score big with those identifying themselves as wealthy, with 62 percent saying their fortunes would improve under Romney compared to the president.
As for Obama's mission to get American households earning at least $250,000 annually to help pay down the debt, 40 percent say the taxes on high earners are just about right or too high, while 44 percent believe they're not paying their fair share. Sixteen percent are undecided.
