The comedy bit marks the second time presidential candidates have appeared on the CMT Music awards. Back in 2008, Republican nominee John McCain and then-Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama also taped appearances for the show.

The 2012 CMT Music Awards kick off Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on CMT and Toby Keith and Kristen Bell serve as co-hosts.
