(WASHINGTON) -- Gen. James Jones is stepping down from his post as national security adviser, a senior White House official tells ABC News.
Deputy National Security Adviser Tom Donilon will serve as Jones' replacement.
President Obama is expected to make the announcement Friday in the Rose Garden.
Jones’ departure is the latest in a list of high-ranking officials to leave the Obama administration. Most recently, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel stepped down to run for mayor of Chicago.
