(WASHINGTON) -- In the GOP weekly address, Congressman Jeb Hensarling of Texas, who chairs the House Republican conference, said the U.S. economy is being held back by the budget deficit and government regulations.
"Small business owners are pleading for the government to stop the reckless spending, balance the budget and then just get out of the way," Hensarling said. "That's why the Republican led house is focused on removing government barriers to private sector job growth.
Hensarling argued that federal regulations and too much spending are holding back job creation.
"We Americans are the best entrepreneurs and workers in the world. Given a level playing field we can compete and win against anyone, anywhere, any time. But not as long as the policies coming out of Washington remain harmful to jobs."
