Nevada Sets Jan. 14 Date for Presidential Caucuses

Comstock/Thinkstock(CARSON CITY, Nev.) -- The Nevada Republican Party on Wednesday night announced the date of its 2012 presidential caucuses: Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 – allowing for the possibility that the first primary votes of the 2012 election cycle could be cast in December 2011.

Nevada’s decision to keep its caucuses on a Saturday could push the New Hampshire primary as far up as Tuesday, Jan.  3. If New Hampshire goes with that date, a December date for the Iowa Caucuses would be inevitable.

Here’s what we know as of now:

Jan. 14
-- Nevada Caucuses
Jan. 21 -- South Carolina primary
Jan. 31 -- Florida primary
Feb. 28 -- Arizona and Michigan primaries
Mar. 6 -- Georgia, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Idaho and Wyoming caucuses

South Carolina Moves Presidential Primary Up

Comstock Images/Thinkstock(WASHINGTON) -- Just days after Florida moved its presidential primary up to Jan. 31, South Carolina announced plans to move its primary to Jan. 21.

Iowa and New Hampshire officials have insisted they will maintain their first-in-the-nation positions. That could lead to Iowa's caucuses moving to early January with New Hampshire's first primary a week later.
