25 Years Later, Family of Missing Girl Clings to Hope
(RENO, Nev.) -- Twenty-five years ago this week, 11-year-old Jennifer Martin left her Lemmon Valley trailer park home, walked to a nearby 7-11, bought a few items and never returned home.
There has been little evidence in her disappearance, but Jennifer’s family still clings on to hope, reports ABC affiliate KOLO television.
Jennifer’s sister, Colleen Martin, marks the anniversary with a personal vigil by purchasing a toy unicorn. "We both loved unicorns," she says, "So it's just a little way of remembering her."
With the recent reemergence of Jaycee Dugard, the girl who reappeared after a kidnapping of 18 years, the family says it has given them a new reason to hope.
Jennifer would now be 36 years old.
Colleen still holds her personal vigil every year. "I still have the same phone number and I live in the same place and I will never change my phone number until we have resolution because that's the phone number she knew."
