Reno City Council Discusses Plans to Add Bike Lanes

(RENO, Nev.) -- The Reno City Council discussed a plan Wednesday to replace street parking with a bike lane on the east side of Plumas Street between Moana Lane and Urban Road.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that the busy four-lane Plumas Street has an average traffic volume of nearly 17,000 vehicles per day. A bike lane would allow bicyclists to hook up to other bike lanes south of Moana Lane on Plumas Street and Arlington Avenue.

An early August Ward 2 Neighborhood Advisory Board meeting revealed that most residents supported the bike lanes, while others did not like the idea of losing their street parking.

The board took no action at Wednesday’s meeting.
