Suspected Graffiti Artist Arrested

(RENO, Nev.) -- A man suspected of 17 cases of graffiti was arrested Friday.

Michael Wooley, 18, was arrested after a secret witness helped officers locate him.

Wooley is being charged with destruction of property and gross misdemeanor due to the damage and clean up costs.

Authorities say that residents can report graffiti in Reno to Reno Direct at 334-INFO.

Reno Receives Tree City USA Award at Arbor Day Celebration

(RENO, Nev.) -- The City of Reno received a Tree City USA Award after planting 15 trees at the Moana Springs Recreation Complex in celebration of Arbor Day on Friday.

According to the Reno Gazette Journal, the Moana Nursery donated 78 shrubs that were also planted at the recreation complex on Friday.

According to the National Arbor Day Foundation, the Tree City USA Award, sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation is awarded to cities with a department in charge of tree management, ordinances regarding tree planting, a public observance of Arbor Day and a forestry budget of at least $2 per capita.

Reno has received a Tree City USA Award in 31 consecutive years, the longest streak for any Nevada city, according to the Gazette Journal.

Car Crashes into Eastshore Place Home

(Reno, Nev. ) -- Reno police responded to a car accident after receiving a report of a vehicle crashing into a residence.

When officers arrived at 3102 Eastshore Place Wednesday afternoon, the vehicle was partially inside the home. Police later determined that the driver, a 67-year-old man, had a medical emergency at the time of the accident, according to the Reno Police Department.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no reports of injuries to any residents of the home.

Police Searching for Man in Cab Robbery

(RENO, Nev.) -- Police are searching for a suspect accused of robbing a cab driver at gunpoint.

According to the Reno Police Department, the cab was carrying two passengers, a male and a female, when the male suspect produced a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s. He is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 170 pounds with short black hair.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact Reno police at (775) 334-2115.

Police Arrest Trailer Park Shooter

(RENO, Nev.) -- Reno Police arrested a man who fired his handgun at several people in a trailer park following an argument on Monday night.

Officers received a call at 10:06 p.m. alerting them to the situation. The suspect, 72-year-old Jerry Roberts, had been arguing with several people at the Evergreen Trailer Park on South Virginia Street when he allegedly drew his handgun and began to fire.

Nobody was hit by the bullets.

A bystander wrestled Roberts to the ground. Several people were holding an irate Roberts down by the time police arrived.

Roberts was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and discharge of a firearm where persons may be hit.
