Victim Identified in Fatal Plane Crash at Truckee Airport

(TRUCKEE, Calif.) -- As the investigation continued into Thursday's deadly plane crash in Truckee, Calif., officials have announced the name of the victim killed.

The plane's pilot, who was killed in the crash, has been identified as Dr. James Ungar, according to the Flying Doctors Facebook page. Ungar, who was reportedly a volunteer pilot with the northern California organization, was the sole occupant of the single-engine plane.

The crash reportedly happened shortly after 8 a.m. as the plane took off. The plane was in the process of attempting to ascend when it crashed into a hangar at the airport.

The crash is being investigated by the FAA and NTSB.
