Police ID Victim in Fatal Car Crash

(SALT LAKE CITY) -- Police on Sunday released the identity of a man killed in a car crash on Friday, according to the Salt Lake Tribune.

Ray Brailsford, 43, was sitting in the rear seat of a Hyundai sedan when a Jeep Commander struck the rear of the car around 10 p.m. at 700 East and 3300 South. Brailsford died when the Hyundai then sprung into a third car upon impact.

Police say another passenger in the Hyundai remains in the hospital in critical condition. The driver is expected to be released from the hospital, police said.

There was no word on whether the driver of the Jeep Commander will face charges.

Body Found Inside Burned Home in Lapoint

(LAPOINT, Utah) -- A body was found inside a burned home on Sunday afternoon in Lapoint, ABC News Salt Lake City affiliate KTVX-TV reports.

Fire crews from Lapoint and Tridell responded to the scene around 2:50 p.m. to 10000 East 5500 North in Lapoint where they found a structure on fire with reports that someone may have been inside.

Fire crews successfully extinguished the fire from the outside and found an unidentified deceased individual on the floor upon entering the home.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

More than 64 People Arrested in State for DUI at Checkpoints

(SALT LAKE CITY) -- The Utah Highway Patrol arrested 64 people at DUI checkpoints across the state on Sunday night.

ABC News affiliate KTVX reports that 25 people were arrested in the Salt Lake Valley, while in Centerville officials say numbers were down this year with two drivers arrested for DUI and seven people being issued minor citations.

Officer Shoots and Injures Man at McDonald's

(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) -- An officer was involved in a Friday afternoon shooting at a McDonald's restaurant in Salt Lake City.

According to witnesses, an officer shot a man in a car at the restaurant on 210 West 500 South. The Deseret News reports that several shots were fired resulting in at least two bullet holes in the car when the officer told the man to stop but instead he put his car in reverse.

The unidentified man was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown.

Businesses Affected in Orem Blaze

(OREM, Utah) -- A fire tore through several buildings in Orem on Thursday night.

The fire started around 6:40 p.m. on N. State St. Among the businesses affected were an auto shop, and an RV and boat storage building.

Part of the roof collapsed in one of the buildings, complicating the firefighting effort.

There were no reported injuries. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
