Fire Burns at Top of American Fork Canyon

(SALT LAKE CITY) -- A brush fire near the top of American Fork Canyon forced the evacuation of one campground Friday, ABC affiliate KTVX -TV reports.

The fire burned near the Silver Lake area. Flames burning in the west flank of the area were extinguished by early Friday afternoon, and a helicopter was working to control the rest from the northeast flank of burned area.

A spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service said the fire had grown to roughly two to three acres in size and was crawling close to the Mineral Basin area of Mount Baldy.
