Sandy Standoff Ends with Suspect Being Taken into Custody

(SANDY, Utah) -- A police standoff that began on Monday night ended early Tuesday morning with a suspect being taken into custody.

Police said they were called to a home in the area of 900 East and 9400 South around 10:30 p.m. on a report of a woman being assaulted by a male co-worker at the home. At some point, according to published reports, a shot was fired inside the home, but the woman was not hit. Police said the assault victim managed to escape and went to a neighbor's home to call for help.

The man refused to come out the house when responding officers arrived and a SWAT team was called in. SWAT officers eventually stormed the house the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
