Teen Pleads Guilty to Burying Classmate on Nevada-Utah Border

(ELKO, Nev.) -- A West Wendover teenager accused of killing a Nevada classmate pleaded guilty to murder charges in Elko Wednesday morning.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports that Kody Cree Patten, 19, pleaded guilty to the first-degree murder of Micaela "Mickey" Costanzo, 16, whose body was found in a shallow grave in a remote area near the Utah-Nevada border.

Patten’s girlfriend at the time of the March 2011 slaying was Toni Fratto, who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison in April.

Patten will be sentenced at 10 a.m. on July 31.
