New 49ers Stadium Jeoparized by Budget Cuts

(SANTA CLARA, Calif.) -- Santa Clara city officials are expected to meet Tuesday night to formally ask Governor Jerry Brown to decline the city's redevelopment money.

The city believes Brown intends on taking up to $40 million already marked for a brand new stadium for the 49ers, next to the Great America Theme Park.

To help close the gap on the $25 billion dollar budget deficit, Brown has proposed recently to eliminate all of the state's redevelopment agencies.

City leaders say that if the funds are taken away, then there is no backup plan.
