Gov. Brown and State Elected Officials to Take 5 Percent Pay Cut

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) -- Rank-and-file state workers won’t be the only ones to take a 5 percent cut in pay.

The Los Angeles Times reports that a state panel decided Thursday to also give the same pay cut to Gov. Jerry Brown and state lawmakers.

In a 5 to 1 vote, The Citizens Compensation Commission, approved cuts for 132 elected state officials, a move that will save California an estimated $657,000 a year.

The pay reduction will be effective Dec. 3.
