(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.) -- A kite surfer was rescued by San Francisco firefighters after being stranded in the Bay Thursday afternoon, ABC affiliate KGO-TV reports.

The fire department said crews responded on personal watercraft and in a fireboat after receiving a report at 4:51 that a person was stranded in the water and drifting east toward Alcatraz. They located the stranded kite surfer in the Bay near the St. Francis Yacht Club and pulled the person into the fireboat just after 5 p.m.

The person did not need medical attention.
