San Francisco Couple Accused of Shooting Reported Pimp of Daughter

(SAN FRANCISCO, Calif) -- A couple -- Barry Gilton, 38, and Lupe Mercado, 37 -- has been charged with the murder of Calvin Sneed, 22, who was reportedly pimping out their 17-year-old daughter. Sneed was a member of the Nutty Block Crip's gang, according to the SF Appeal.

The murder allegedly took place in the Bayview District, where Sneed was shot in the head while driving near Meade and Le Conte Avenues. District attorney George Gascon says, "Taking the law into your own hands is never an acceptable solution."

Gilton's attorney, Eric Safire, denies that Gilton and Mercado were involved. Instead, they say that Sneed was probably shot while "engaged in his normal customary business," according to the digital paper.

The couple allegedly tracked Sneed down after learning that their daughter worked as a prostitute for him. Allegedly, there was an initial shooting between the two parties, which Sneed survived. When Sneed traveled to San Francisco to retrieve Gilton and Mercado's daughter, the couple followed and the fatal altercation occured. Afterwards, Gilton and Mercado retrieved their daughter, reports the digital paper.

The daughter is currently living with famiily members, while the parents wait for the court date on June 20th.
