California Marine Dies During Combat in Afghanistan

(WASHINGTON) -- A Marine from California has been killed during combat in Afghanistan.

According to a news release by the Department of Defense, Cpl. Joshua R. Ashley, 23, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., died on Thursday from injuries sustained while engaged in combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

Ashley was assigned to the 2nd Law Enforcement Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
