Wildfires Cast Smoky Haze on Bay Area Skies

(SAN FRANCISCO) -- San Francisco's skies were hazier than normal on Thursday, as fires in the North Bay area caused smoke to billow over the Bay Area.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, visibility was decreased, but winds were expected to push the smoke off of the bay Thursday afternoon.

The strongest of the wind gusts that had prompted a warning about fire danger have dissipated.

According to the Chronicle, the larger of two fires, in Sonoma County near Calistoga, has already burned 125 acres. That blaze is not yet completely contained. A second fire, near the Silverado Trail in Yountville, burned 75 acres before being fully contained.

A release from the mayor’s office lists Salesforce, Starbucks, Advent, Bank of America, Nektar, Twilio, and Jawbone among the employees that have already committed to offering summer employment.
