According to the SFPD, DUI saturation patrols will be deployed from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday night. From 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday, the SFPD will man DUI/driver's license checkpoints. Additionally, the California Highway Patrol will deploy all available officers to cover freeways and county roads as part of their Maximum Enforcement Patrol.
The SFPD urges citizens to plan ahead, name a designated sober driver and limit the amount of alcohol served to their guests.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, HazhirKargaran, 26, pleaded no contest to charges of instigating animal cruelty, property destruction and trespassing. Karagan recently graduated from the law school.
Karagan and his two fellow defendants in the case, Justin Teixeira, 24, and Eric Cuellar, 24, were also involved in the incident in which a guinea fowl was beheaded at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev. in October. The Chronicle reports that the three allegedly chased the bird into the trees in the hotel's wildlife habitat before emerging with the bird's severed head. All three were apparently intoxicated at the time.
Karagan will spend two days in prison and do 48 hours of community service. Cuellar was previously sentenced to 48 hours of community service and a $200 fine. Teixeira is scheduled to go to trial later this year.

The incident happened in the area of Gough and Fulton streets around 10:30 p.m. Police say a 27-year-old man was standing on the street when he was approached by the suspect who asked him for money. The victim replied that he didn't have any money, and according to a police report, the pair locked arms and the female suspect walked away.
The victim then realized his cellphone was missing, and police say when he confronted the suspect, she pulled out a screwdriver and threatened the victim.
The victim then followed the suspect and notified police, who arrived and arrested the woman.
