Cable Work Being Done on Bay Bridge

(TREASURE ISLAND, Calif.) -- Crews are working to transfer the weight of the Bay Bridge onto its suspension cables, ABC affiliate KGO-TV reports.

For the next few weeks, the eastern part of the bridge will be connected to its steel suspenders and moved off the temporary sub-structure that has currently been supporting it.

The cables will be tightened for safety reasons to help support the bridge properly.
