California Man Dies Hanging Upside-Down in Zion National Park
(WASHINGTON, Utah) -- A 74-year-old man from California who fell down a Subway Slot Canyon wall at Zion National Park Tuesday and hung upside-down overnight died by the time park rangers arrived Wednesday morning, the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly hiking the park with a female companion when the accident occurred. The woman became disoriented halfway through the rugged, nine-mile-long remote wilderness and was unable to exit the canyon until Wednesday morning.
When rangers arrived after noon on Wednesday, the man had already died.
